Network Analyzer

What does it do?

Spectrum analyzers are used to test RF/microwave or modulated signals. They primarily provide frequency domain analysis of radio signals, as well as distortion, interference and demodulation analysis of signals of interest.

A signal generator provides a clean signal which can be used as a local oscillator (LO), a stimulus signal with or without modulation, as an interference source, and more.

A vector network analyzer (VNA) measures S-parameters of the device under test, such as return loss, VSWR, insertion loss or group delay.

Where is it used?

Mainly used in RF/microwave transmitter/transceiver module characterization. Also widely used in signal monitoring, spectrum surveillance, and EMI precompliance test.

Primarily used in receiver testing but also in development of RF components/devices, any application which requires a controlled signal source with specific parameters and qualities.

A VNA is used to measure components, devices, circuits and sub-assemblies.
